Open The Gate is a cultural organization that I co-founded in 2010.
Our objective is to promote a positive and contemporary image of African cultures through arts, design, music events and activities.
For 2 years, we established a venue in the heart of East-London, bringing together a unique programme of cultural awareness, accessibility and a celebration of all aspects of “Black Arts” – all in a vibrant homely atmosphere. In 2012, we got mobile in order to bring Open The Gate’s recognised trademark of African cultural events and activities around London, the UK and internationally!
Open The Gate is a hub and platform for artists, musicians and creative minds.
Today, we include an event agency, a booking agency, a sound-system, an immigration advice branch, a cooperation & development project in the Gambia, and a brand of fashion accessories.
• As co-founder, designer and events coordinator, my role is multiple:
- art direction + branding & visual ID + graphic design + web design,
- events logistics and set up,
- promotion & PR,
- business management and administrative tasks
